SCUTTLE – A hatchway leading into an attic, often found in the ceilings of closets.

SECONDARY MARKET – The part of the real estate financing industry, which purchases loans from the original lenders (the PRIMARY MARKET).

SHOPPING A CONTRACT – The act, by an agent, of letting buyers know what other buyers are offering on the same property, causing buyers to bid up the sales price.  This is an illegal practice.

SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED – A deed that warrants the title to a property for the time a grantor owns a property.  The warranty does not cover or concern the condition of a property.

STEERING – The act of guiding a buyer or renter into or away from a certain area or neighborhood.  An illegal practice for real estate agents to engage in.
